Javier Colon, Winner of 'The Voice,' Rings in the Holiday Season at Westfarms Mall

The West Hartford resident performed songs from his new album as he joined Santa to open the Westfarms Ice Palace and officially ring in the holiday season.

Santa was joined by West Hartford's Javier Colon, winner of NBC's televison show "The Voice," Fox CT's Rachel Frank, and choral singers from the Hartt School as the Ice Palace in Westfarms Mall center court officially opened for the holiday season.

Colon delighted shoppers as he performed songs from his upcoming album “Come Through For You,” which will be released in stores and iTunes on November 21.

Santa will be the guest of honor in the ice palace's winter wonderland for the next six and a half weeks. Photo opps are available, and guests will also be able to experience six-foot snow globes featuring Beluga whales and polar bears in stunning BBC video footage. The exhibit is designed to bring "the sparkle and magic of winter" to life.

On Wednesday, however, Colon was the main attraction. Kas Colasani a student at Berlin High School, arrived with her friend Meghan Stanwicks at 2:30 p.m. The pair left school as soon as classed ended, in order to be the first in line to meet Javier Colon and get his autograph. When asked how long they have been fans of Javier, Kas said, "We had seen his videos before on YouTube and knew right away that he would win it all."

Dirk DeBoer of Newington came to Westfarms Mall with his nine year-old daughter Trisha to see Javier perform. When asked if they voted for Javier on "The Voice" Dirk replied, "We didn't, but Mom did. He didn't need our help. He was clearly the best one."
