Joy Wright Named Assistant Principal at Conard

Wright will replace Roszena Haskins, who takes over as Sedgwick Middle School principal on July 1.

Superintendent of Karen List announced Tuesday that Joy Wright has been named assistant principal at .

She will fill the job being vacated by , who will become principal of on July 1 following the retirement of Dr. Benjamin Skaught.

"Ms. Wright has demonstrated that her decisions revolve around what is best for students in partnership with families and teachers. Her collaborative style, ability to listen, rapport with students and responsiveness will serve the Conard community well. Joy is thrilled to be coming to West Hartford to work where she resides with her family," List said in a news release.

Wright, currently principal at James Moran Middle School in Wallingford, was selected from a pool of over 150 applicants according the release. She previously served as assistant principal of CREC's Two Rivers Magnet Middle School and is credited with the effective implementation of Scientific Research-Based Interventions (SRBI) in that school. Wright began her career as a high school teacher in Windsor.

Wright has a B.A. in American Studies from Trinity College and an M.A.T. from Brown University. She completed her 6th Year Leadership requirements at the University of Connecticut.
