New Fernridge Park Pool Opens for the Season

Other West Hartford outdoor pools also opened at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday's severe thunderstorms postponed the ribbon cutting for the new pool and other improvements at , but on Saturday morning everything was set to welcome swimmers and waders to the the brand new pool and splash deck.

The ribbon cutting and other festivities for the nine-month, $1.7 million capital improvement project, will now be held on Tuesday, June 26, at 5 p.m.

Fernridge Park is the busiest of the town pools, and the old Fernridge Park pool, had been in need of repair or replacement for several years. It has now been replaced with a recreational and competitive in-ground pool with a zero-depth entry, making it easier for persons with disabilities to enjoy the pool.

The bathhouse has been upgraded, and now includes two family changing areas.

Other improvements to Fernridge Park include replacement of the wading pool with a splash deck for toddlers, as well as landscaping, fencing, new filtration and circulation systems, new sidewalks and parking lot and a new play area where the wading pool was formerly located.

The splash deck is separate from the pool and will be open for use daily.

All West Hartford outdoor pools are open daily from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Evening pool hours vary at each pool. Click here to view times. Spray pads are open at 11 a.m.

Adult lap swims are available at Beachland Park on Sunday 12-1 p.m., at Fernridge and Eisenhower parks on Sunday through Friday 12-1 p.m., and at Kennedy Park on Monday through Friday 6-7 p.m.

Daily pool fees are $3.25 for children, $4 for adults and $3.25 for seniors. Evening fees are $2.75 for children, $3.25 for adults and $2.75 for seniors. Discount admission cards are available for $25 for 10 swims and $40 for 20 swims.
