28 Days of Gratitude: Day 15 ... I am grateful for my work, love love love working at Connecticut Children's!

Nov. 15th - I am thankful for my work.

Two years ago I began thinking it was time to go back to work full time. My little one was beginning all-day kindergarten, and I was ready. When I thought about where I would want to work, where I would want to help make a difference, my first choice was the place that saved my daughter’s life: Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

I am thrilled to say two years later, I am so blessed to be working there. As the only free-standing children’s hospital in Connecticut that offers comprehensive, world-class health care to children, Connecticut Children’s is an amazing place. How lucky I am that I get to walk through the doors of such a special place! I am in awe of the wonderful physicians and staff who spend their days caring for our children, and so very lucky to work with our generous supporters.

Every day I come into work, I am reminded why I do what I do. I see a picture of one of our patients, read a letter from a parent thanking Connecticut Children’s for saving their child’s life, and I think, yes. I am in the right place. I feel truly blessed to work here. To come into a place which does so much to help so many children. A place which has hope. A place which saves lives. A place filled with love. It doesn’t feel so much like work, but a wonderful opportunity to share this amazing place with others who want to help make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and families.

Connecticut Children’s is indeed a special place, and I am grateful to be a small part of it. And did I mention I have the most fun and caring colleagues? Yep, I do. They are smart, caring, funny and all around fabulous people. They make me laugh, help me if I need it, offer guidance and support. (And chocolate when necessary.) We were recently named as the #2 best place to work in Connecticut by the Hartford Courant and I couldn’t agree more.

Earlier this week, one of our young patient’s, together with help from her friends, created a beautiful music video, “ROAR”… if you have a few minutes grab your family, friends, anyone around you and watch, you will absolutely love it I promise!
