SPIRIT... Day 1 of Our Word Challenge.

SPIRIT. Such a simple word, yet one with different meanings depending on who you ask. According to one dictionary it's defined as "such a part regarded as a person's true self" or "a specified emotion or mood", as in the Spirit of Christmas. Also spirit a "supernatural being" or a "strong distilled liquor"... each meaning different, unique to its own situation.

I thought it would be the perfect word to begin our family's December project: one word a day for 25 days. One word and live out that word. Could be a small act of kindness towards a stranger or someone in need or a larger gesture which touches many.

Just one word, every day until Christmas. Call it our Christmas challenge.

We enjoyed our "25 Days if Giving" last year... in fact we had so much fun coming up with ways to give back to others (and loved when other families joined us!) The holidays were much more meaningful to us when we realized how many people we could give back to with one small gesture.

So I thought... what if I didn't plan out our acts, what if every morning we chose a word. Just one word and see how we can incorporate it into our lives. I just shared my ideas with the girls, and they loved it. (In fact 7 is creating a list of who should come up with the word each morning. Love it.)

As with last year's challenge, my girls are very excited to begin, and my hope is that this will remind us of all we have to be grateful for, as well as inspire us to live life fully.  Join us! I'm excited to see how we come up with ways to incorporate this into our daily lives. Please post pics and share what you did!
