2AM Performance Kicks Off Multimedia Exhibition in Windsor

No it’s not a typo.  The Windsor Art Center will, in fact, be hosting a performance at 2 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 (late Friday night).  The performance, “Vernissage”, is an ode to the French term and tradition of giving a preview of an art exhibition before its formal opening and will kickoff the Art Center’s next exhibition, Performance Scripts: The Babbletive and Scribbletive Arts by performance art writer Edmond Chibeau.

Chibeau’s exhibition promises to offer visitors to the Art Center a new twist on viewing art.  Much of the exhibition is interactive and features video, digital work, visual art, and performance scripts that will be hung on the walls, encouraging visitors to read them aloud. Those who come to the gallery for the 2AM “Vernissage” will witness a performance that will create the final piece of the Performance Scripts exhibition, which will have its formal opening later in the day on Saturday, May 10, from 5-7PM.

“Vernissage” is just one example of the performances and programs that The Windsor Art Center will be offering throughout the course of Performance Scripts, which runs from May 10-June 21.  With the support of a generous grant from the Connecticut Humanities, the Art Center will be offering a variety of programs focused on performance art, media art, writing and poetry, and language and communication. Programming includes Connecticut poet, Alexandrina Sergio, media artist Ina Archer, Joanna Gunderson of Red Dust Books, a press that publishes work “thought to be unpublishable because of length, form or content", and the WordWorks Group, who will perform some of the scripts on display at the gallery among others.
