AMERICAN LEGION POST 96 HONORS OFFICER KEVIN HARRISON AS POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR

WEST HARTFORD, CT   (May 30, 2014)   The American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 has recognized West Hartford Police Officer Kevin Harrison as the “Police Officer of the Year”.  Each year the American Legion honors one individual as the Police Officer of the Year, chosen and recognized by fellow officers, for upholding high moral, ethical and professional standards and for efforts that have gone above and beyond the call for duty.  Recipients of the Police Officer of the Year award are considered the department’s “ideal officers.”

Officer Harrison joined the West Hartford Police Department in 2007 and has served in the Patrol and Traffic Divisions. At a ceremony held April 23rd at the American Legion Post 96, Police Chief Tracey Gove told the audience of Officer Harrison’s service history and the many Unit Citations he has received since joining the West Hartford Police.

Councilman Harry Captain, Public Safety Chairman for the Town Council, read a Proclamation from the Town of West Hartford citing Officer Harrison’s accomplishments with the Police Department and proclaiming Officer Kevin Harrison Day in the town.  Prior to joining the West Hartford Police Department, Officer Harrison was an officer with the UMass Amherst Police Department.
