AMERICAN LEGION POST 96 OF WEST HARTFORD ADOPTS CHANGE TO SMOKING POLICY

WEST HARTFORD, CT   (December 3, 2013)   The American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 of West Hartford will implement a no smoking policy throughout the Post effective January 1, 2014.

The decision to revise the smoking policy was approved based on a survey conducted among Post 96 members during 2013.  Post Commander Ken Hungerford stated, “We are following other American Legion Posts in Connecticut who have adopted a similar policy of no smoking in their Posts.”

With a current membership of 2.4-million wartime veterans, The American Legion was founded in 1919 on the four pillars of a strong national security, veterans affairs, Americanism, and youth programs. Legionnaires work for the betterment of their communities through more than 14,000 posts across the nation.
