For the 10th year in a row, Kingswood Oxford students stood out from the pack at Yale University’s Model UN, which this year attracted more than 1,300 students from 80 different schools around the world.
Competing against high schoolers from as far away as China, Colombia, and Dubai, KO’s team of 36 delegates represented three countries -- Yemen, Malaysia, and the UK – and 20 different committees, including Security Council, World Health, Arab League, Press Corp, and the Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, to name just a few.
This was the 39th annual YMUN, as Yale’s event is known; KO has participated for the past 10 years, and has brought home awards every time.
This year’s award-winners are:
* Rayva Khanna ’13 of South Glastonbury and Brooke Goldsmith ‘13 of West Hartford, representing Yemen in the Arab League -- Honorable Delegate Award in the Arab League, and
* Ruthie Dannehy ‘13 of Manchester, representing the Wall Street Journal in the Press Corps – Honorable Delegate in the Press Corps category.
Global awareness has been a cornerstone of a Kingswood Oxford education for more than 100 years; for information about enrollment, contact the Admissions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
