Barry Named America East Performer of the Week

AMERICA EAST RELEASE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Junior Megan Barry of the University of Hartford women's cross country team earned the final America East cross country women's Performer of the Week honor of the season as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. The weekly honor is the first for a Hawk runner this fall.

Barry led the Hawks to a third-place finish as a team at Friday's CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Park in New Britain, Conn. The junior from South Yarmouth, Mass., took sixth place in the field of individuals with a time of 10:29.48 on the 3,000-meter course. Barry was the top finisher of any America East competitor in the race.

Barry has finished tops among Hawk runners in each of the four meets she has entered this season. She looks to pace the Hartford squad again this upcoming Saturday, October 27, at the America East Conference championship meet in Durham, N.H., hosted by the University of New Hampshire. The women's championship race is set for 10 a.m. while the men run at 11 a.m.
