Gabriella’s Annual Scoop Night will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, 5½ South Main Street, West Hartford Center.
Gabriella, who will turn 9 at the end of the month, underwent successful open-heart surgery almost five years ago at Connecticut Children's. As a way to celebrate her birthday and give back to Connecticut Children's, the Giordano family and friends created "Gabriella's Scoop Night". For the past four years, Ben & Jerry's has generously donated a portion of the evening's proceeds to to Connecticut Children's Medical Center, Division of Cardiology. The donations from this year's event will go towards the new Cardiovascular Care Center.
In addition to delicious ice cream, this fun family evening, includes children's activities, door prizes, giveaways and entertainment provided by local band, Fat Grip. There will be a number of "celebrity scoopers" including: Hartford Courant columnist MaryEllen Fillo, WFSB Reporter Susan Raff, 96.5TIC FM Radio Host GinaJ, West Hartford Patch Editor Ronni Newton, West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka, West Hartford Police Officer Eric Rocheleau, Town Council Minority Leader Denise Hall, Norfeldt Elementary School teachers and Gabriella's doctors. A special appearance from Rocky the Rock Cat is also in the lineup.
The event is open to the public. Last year’s event drew a crowd of over 300 individual and families.
