Riverfront Recapture announced that the beautiful riverboat Hartford Belle will provide sightseeing trips along the majestic Connecticut River for attendees at the 2012 Big Mo’, the annual fundraising event for Riverfront Recapture.
The 49-passenger Hartford Belle, 47 feet in length, was built in 1993 and has an open deck and mahogany-trimmed enclosed cabin with windows. It will set off from the Riverfront Boathouse in a celebration of the Boathouse’s 10th anniversary during the October 12 Big Mo’.
The Big Mo’ – known as one of the most enjoyable casual parties of the year – is an annual fundraising event that supports Riverfront Recapture’s efforts to improve the quality of life and urban vitality of the Central Connecticut region.
Every year Big Mo’ (as in momentum) selects a place near the river that symbolizes the energy and vitality of the region. For 10 years, the Riverfront Boathouse has been home to one of the region’s largest and most successful community rowing programs, currently reaching more than 330 adults and 215 high-school students through rowing classes and competitions, including the Riverfront Rowing Regatta that attracts 2,500 rowers and 10,000 spectators.
Also, the Riverfront Boathouse has welcomed thousands of special events, including weddings, corporate affairs and holiday gatherings. Set along the beauty of the adjacent Riverfront Parks, the Riverfront Boathouse has become a vital and memorable destination point for residents and tourists alike.
In addition to Hartford Belle, attendees to the Big Mo’ will be treated to a fireworks show by Atlas PyroVision Productions, winners of the 2012 International Fireworks Competition in Montreal, Canada.
Music will be provided by the Hot Cat Dixieland Jazz Band and DJ Mike Musumeci.
The 2012 Big Mo’ at the Riverfront Boathouse on October 12 includes a 6 - 7:30 p.m. pre-party VIP Reception for benefactor level ticket holders and sponsors, and a 7 p.m. Main Event for patron ticket holders, as well as benefactors and sponsors.
The VIP Reception will be held in the Riverfront Boathouse boat bays, an area usually not open to the public, surrounded by a fleet of colorful rowing shells, oars and ergs. The Main Event consists of buffet station dinners, beer, wine, soft drinks and a “Special Cocktail” bar and entertainment. And, in the tradition of the Big Mo’, fun, festive attire is encouraged.
Co-Chairs of the 2012 Big Mo’ are Brian and Susan Clemow of West Hartford.
Individual benefactor tickets are $250 and patron tickets are $150. For more information about benefactor and patron tickets, as well as sponsorship opportunities, call 860-713-3131, ext. 303.
