On Christmas Day, Hebrew Health Care held its annual Christmas Day Mitzvah Program. The program asked individuals in the community to volunteer at HHC so staff members that celebrate Christmas could take time off to be with their families during the holiday. The program, led by Ruthan Wein, Director of Volunteer Resources, was once again a successful event.
Volunteers young and old gathered at Hebrew Health Care to help out from early morning to dinner time. During this day-long program, 120 volunteers walked through the front doors of HHC to assist in any way they could. Volunteer opportunities included serving meals, delivering laundry, running the Main Street Café and Gift Shop, running recreational activities, and doing office work.
Volunteers came as families, singles, and even pets arrived to support the day. Many first time volunteers have become new permanent volunteers. After having spent the day experiencing fun and much laughter, many of the Christmas Day volunteers emailed Ruthan thanking her for such a wonderful opportunity to help those in their community.
