“Footloose,” the lively musical based loosely on the story of an Oklahoma town where dancing was banned until 1980, is coming to Kingswood Oxford’s Roberts Theater on Feb. 23 at 8pm and Feb. 24 at 2pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some great toe-tapping, foot-stomping music, including ‘Let’s Hear It for the Boy’ and, of course, the title song, ‘Footloose,’” said longtime KO Creative Arts teacher Lud Baldwin.
Leading players include Amanda Pratt ’13 of Farmington, Olivia Kravetz ’13 of West Simsbury, Blake Randall ’13 of West Hartford, Spencer Murray ’13 of Burlington, Molly Miller ’13 of Hartford, Cat Flaherty ’14 of Newington, Maddie Pazzani ’14 of Farmington, and Grace Gentile ’15 of East Hartford.
Tom Wilson ’14 of West Hartford, Sam Wiseman ’14 of West Hartford, Eric Moskowitz ’13 of New Hartford, Hayley Eicher ’16 of West Hartford, Sydney Legagneur ’15 of Burlington, Molly Sullivan ’15 of Manchester, and Taelor Scott ’13 of Unionville have strong supporting roles.
Originally a 1980s movie starring Kevin Bacon, “Footloose” debuted on Broadway in 1999 and enjoyed a revival there in 2005.
