KO’s Toubman and Collins Named All-State in Soccer

Kingswood Oxford soccer standouts Mark Toubman ’13 of Newington and Reid Collins ’14 of West Hartford have been named to the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team for large and medium-size prep schools.

"Both Mark and Reid are deserving of this recognition, and the fact that they are honored by opposing coaches speaks to their skill and positive impact on their team,” said KO Boys’ Head Soccer Coach Peter Jones.

In addition, Toubman – the son of Susan and Gary Toubman, MD -- was one of only five All-State players chosen to receive the prestigious Valerio Moretti Scholar Athlete Award. This award, established in 1990, recognizes “athletic prowess and high academic achievement,” according to the CSCA.

Toubman, who also plays squash and tennis and is a captain in all three sports, is the first student in KO history to receive this award, which was established in 1990. In fact, it is the first time since 2004 that this scholarship has been awarded to a student-athlete from any prep school. It will be sent directly to the college in which Toubman enrolls.

Collins is the son of Beth Ann and Watson Collins.
