For more than a decade, West Hartford residents have come together at the annual Mayor’s Charity Ball gala for a night of dancing, dining and fun. The mission of the evening is to raise funds for two very worthy non-profit organizations that enrich the community and its residents: and .
Now less than two weeks away, the organizing committee has unveiled a list of coveted silent auction prizes. To name just a few, highlights on the auction list include:
- A three-night trip to Las Vegas including, air fare, a room at The Cosmopolitian and VIP tickets to Cirque du Soleil
- Sports fan getaway – 2 lower level tickets to your choice of a regular season MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL or non-BCS College Bowl game, 2-night deluxe hotel stay and breakfast
- Sonoma Wine extravaganza including airfare for two, luxury car rental and three-night junior suite accommodations
- Max Burger backyard BBQ catered for 25 with beer and a live band
- A ride to school for a child in a West Hartford fire truck
“I anticipate some steep competition among the bidders. These are some of the best prizes ever,” said West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka. “We’re anticipating another great turnout at this year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball.”
Also, several local organizations are chipping in to maximize fundraising efforts. With a mention of The Mayor’s Charity Ball, Camille Bridal Couture will donate 10% of the price of each dress purchased to the cause. premium formalwear will also do the same for tuxedo rentals.
In addition, on Farmington Avenue is waiving its cover charge for all Ball attendees wanting to continue the celebration at its After-Party Event.
The will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 under the tent on the Town Hall green. Dinner will be catered by restaurant group.
The Mayor’s Charity Ball is itself a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that is governed by a board of directors with the input and endorsement of the Mayor of West Hartford. Playhouse on Park is an award-winning destination for the performing arts.
