NWC Seniors Announce Plans to Compete in D2 and D3 College Sports

Nineteen seniors at Northwest Catholic have announced their intention to compete in Division II or Division III college athletics next year.

These students are in addition to five seniors who have already committed to high-level athletic programs: Brian Butler '12 (D1 golf, Boston College), Mary Deneen '12 (volleyball, Bates College), Sydney Golic '12 (D1 swimming, Notre Dame), Brian Poirier '12 (cross country, Princeton), and Aaron Wilson '12 (D1 baseball, University of Hartford).

Together, these 24 students represent 15% of the Class of ’12 who will be playing sports in college.

“Their hard work in the classroom and in their respective sports has put these students in this fantastic position,” said NWC Athletic Director Matt Martorelli ‘03. “As a community, we could not be more proud and excited to see and hear their stories over the next four years.”

The DII- and DIII-bound athletes from the Class of ’12 are:

  • David Blackwell – Salve Regina University (Basketball)
  • Lucien Cance – Nichols College (Football)
