White flakes will soon be flying in the air and for many CT sports enthusiasts that’s a reason to celebrate. To kick off the winter season, REI in Blue Back Square is hosting its first ever Winter Sports Weekend. Festivities will be held on Saturday, November 17th from 10 am-5 pm and Sunday, November 18th from 11 am-4 pm. This weekend of fun will feature on-site vendors, prize giveaways and other exciting activities.
“REI is truly a community-minded retailer that consistently looks for opportunities to bring people together,” said Blue Back Square Marketing Manager Barbara Lerner. “This is a fantastic way to kick off the season!”
During Sunday’s event, representatives from Vermont’s Mt. Snow will be on hand giving away one lift ticket per hour from 12 pm -4 pm. Members and customers must stop in the store and register for the raffles to be eligible to win prizes throughout the weekend. November 17th and 18th also marks the first weekend of REI’s Winter Sale, with great deals throughout the store!
Winter sporting enthusiasts will be encouraged to hear the forecast is calling for snow in the north and many resorts hope to make November 17th their opening weekend.
“Whether you like to ski, snow board, snow shoe or want to try one of those sports for the first time, our staff is on-hand to offer expert advice,” said REI Outreach Specialists Tessa Bondi. “Winter might be cold, but it can be a great time to enjoy the outdoors.”
