The Mandell JCC’s Beatrice Fox Auerbach Early Childhood Center (ECC) students will be participating in a nationwide celebration of the 2nd Annual Food Day on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 12:00 p.m., at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT.
In honor of the national event, Beatrice Fox Auerbach preschoolers will bring an apple to school on Wednesday. Together at 12:00 p.m., the children will take a bite of their apples simultaneously to help raise awareness for eating healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Each of the children in the 3-, 4-, and Transitional Kindergarten classrooms hope to “create a crunch that will be heard around the Mandell JCC”.
Created by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), Food Day is a celebration and movement that was created to address issues in health, nutrition, agricultural policy, animal welfare and farm worker rights.
Enrollment and membership to the Mandell JCC and its preschools is open to everyone.
