The West Hartford U13 Girls Thunderstorm took on New Milford on Sunday, Nov. 13 in the finals of fall State Cup competition.
The first half goal put the Thunderstorm in the lead 1-0. They were able to maintain that lead until Milford scored with 5 minutes to go in regulation. Neither team was able to score again in regulation.
The contest continued with two 10 minute overtimes with still no score.
State Cup games are not decided by penalty kicks, so West Hartford and Milford were declared co-champions.
This was the first State Cup finish for the West Hartford Thundertorm.
The Thunderstorm finished off a great fall season not only as co champs in the state cup but winning their league with a record of 5-0-1.
