I Giovani Solisti to Present Annual Chocolate Café Performance

Chamber Orchestra from Hall and Conard High to perform at West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium

 

 

WEST HARTFORD, CT, February 26, 2014 – I Giovani Solisti, the chamber orchestra made up of outstanding string musicians from both Conard and Hall High Schools in West Hartford, will be performing at the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main Street, on Saturday, with 2 performances Marchth 8 at 2 pm and 7pm.  Advanced tickets can be purchased by visiting Solisti’s website at www.igiovanisolisti.com.   

      

Music will include Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, Mozart’s Serenata Notturna, Haydn’s “Farewell Symphony”, Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango featuring senior cellist Raphael R. Boden, and additional music by Purcell, Stravinsky, Corelli, Sibelius, and Radiohead. In this Boston Pops inspired event, concertgoers receive delicious chocolate cake, hot tea, coffee, and other refreshments, and may dine as they listen.

 

Currently celebrating its 30th year, I Giovani Solisti is led by Director Stephen Clink. The group was founded in 1983 with the goal of providing string musicians from Conard and Hall High Schools the opportunity to perform great literature composed for string orchestra. The orchestra has been nationally recognized by Down Beat magazine as the Best High School Chamber Music Group nine different years since the group was formed. The orchestra is active in the community, performing at schools, churches, senior centers, and various events.

 

The concert tickets are $15 for table seating and $10 for balcony seating.   Advanced tickets can be purchased by visiting www.igiovanisolisti.com , and limited tickets are available at the door. Proceeds help support enriching musical opportunities for students, including Solisti’s semi-annual travel to Europe. Traditionally both the performances sell out.
