Emanuel Synagogue Honors Volunteers

The Emanuel Synagogue of West Hartford has a tradition of honoring its member volunteers each year for all their time and energy given to support the Synagoue’s mission and purpose. Yet this year instead of selecting up to ten of its members to recognize its active and growing membership, it will recognize over one hundred of its volunteers at a Member Appreciation reception on July 31st in its Silverman Auditorium.  Rabbi Small and Cantor Cohn will lead the program along with Synagogue President Ira Henowitz.

Henowitz states “our sacred community prides itself on having so many of our members help out in countless ways.  Our member volunteers, of all ages, find significant meaning in participating in the wide range of volunteer opportunities we offer as an inclusive, purpose driven, vibrant center of Jewish life here in Metro Hartford.   We are a growing, multi-generational, egalitarian synagogue community that wants to say thank you to so many of our members who give so much.”

Volunteers at The Emanuel Synagogue are involved in a variety of ways including life-long learning, music, participatory prayer, sacred rituals and social action.  Most of the volunteering activities are led by its members who welcome new participants.  The ninety five year young synagogue community prides itself in its diverse array of volunteering options which all help to foster a sense of a large and caring extended family.
