Groundbreaking for New Autism Center at the Univ. of Saint Joseph

The University of Saint Joseph hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at its West Hartford campus for the Center for Applied Research and Education (CARE).  CARE will expand USJ’s Gengras Center, a special education school serving children with intellectual and other disabilities, including autism.  Phase I construction begins in May and will add 22,000 square feet to the Gengras Center, which serves children from more the 50 Connecticut towns. Pictured at the recent groundbreaking are, from left, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Chief Executive Officer of Gengras Motors and incoming Chair of USJ’s Board of Trustees E. Clayton “Skip” Gengras Jr., and President of USJ Dr. Pamela Trotman Reid.
