Mandell JCC Presents Beatrice Fox Auerbach: The Woman, Her World and Her Wardrobe; Reception & Historical Presentation Thursday, August 15, 2013

The Mandell JCC presents the history of Beatrice Fox Auerbach through clothing and personal accessories in Beatrice Fox Auerbach: The Woman, Her World and Her Wardrobe from Thursday, July 25, 2013 through Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Chase Family Gallery at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT. There will be a reception and historical presentation on Thursday, August 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

Through garments and personal items from the University of Connecticut Historical Costume & Textile Collection, get a glimpse into the life of Beatrice Fox Auerbach, an extraordinary woman of her time, who was a loving mother and grandmother, world traveler, influential philthropist, and owner and CEO of America’s largest privately owned department store, G. Fox & Co.

Beatrice Fox Auerbach: The Woman, Her World and Her Wardrobe is presented in partnership with the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford and the University of Connecticut Historical Costume & Textile Collection Department, and is co-curated by Laura Crow and Maarit Uusitalo.
