Poppins Children's Theatre Pajama drive

Poppins Children’s Theatre Pajamas for The Bridge Family Center Shelters

Poppins Children’s Theater recent production of “The Castaways”, a story about homeless children at the turn of the century prompted a community service project. The entire cast comprised of West Hartford children 7-15 wanted to help children that are in need today. We contacted Judy Bierly, Director of Community Services for The Bridge Family Center and decided to run a pajama drive to help children in their shelters. Additionally, “The Castaways” performed a free performance followed by a sweet treat reception for children and staff involved with the many services The Bridge Family Center offers.

The pajama drive was a huge success! Bins of new pajamas were delivered with love by several members of the cast. Special thank you to Saint James Episcopal Church for helping us with all of the donations. Cast member Max Markowitz and his brother Jake made the pajama drive their Mitzvah project involving their school, friends and family. Thank you members of our community for your generous donations!
