West Hartford Resident Named CBA Treasurer

Attorney Matthew D. Gordon was installed as Treasurer of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) at the CBA Annual Luncheon during the Connecticut Legal Conference on June 16 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

As the founder of Matthew Dallas Gordon LLC, Attorney Gordon focuses his practice on commercial, professional liability, municipal liability, personal injury, employment, and insurance related litigation, including first party insurance coverage and subrogation cases. He is also responsible for defending municipalities and public officials in claims alleging civil rights violations, including the use of excessive force and the denial of free speech and for complex arbitration matters before the American Arbitration Association of Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA; formerly National Association of Securities Dealers).

Attorney Gordon’s activities in the Association include chair of the Audit Committee, past chair of the Young Lawyers Section Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Law Committee, and member of the House of Delegates and Civics Education Committee. He has also served on several CBA Task Forces, including the Task Force on Civic Education in Connecticut and the Task Force on Structure and Governance. He is a past president of the Hartford County Bar Association and has served on its Board of Directors since 1996.

 The Connecticut Bar Association is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is the primary decision-making and policy-making body of the CBA. The Board of Governors is the administrative board of the CBA, which includes responsibility for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven offices, held by members of the Association for a one-year term, which include president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As Treasurer of the Connecticut Bar Association, Attorney Gordon holds the funds of the Association.
