American Legion Will 'Fill the Bucket' on Memorial Day

Bring your donations to West Hartford's Memorial Day parade for this fundraiser to support military families.

The American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 will host a “Fill-the-Bucket” fund raiser on Memorial Day, May 28, in front of 29 South Main Street, in support of the 143d Military Police Co. Family Readiness Group,.

The 143d Military Police Co., located at the , South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, is preparing for mobilization to an overseas assignment this year. The 143d Military Police Family Readiness Group is made up of family members of soldiers serving in the 143d MP Co. The group’s mission is to provide support for the family once a soldier is placed on active duty.

The West Hartford American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 will be hosting a fundraiser on Memorial Day in support of the Family Readiness Group. Legion members will be stationed in front of 29 South Main Street next to a military vehicle to collect donations from the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Post Commander Chris Conlin stated, “Especially on Memorial Day, when we remember all who have served our country, this is an opportunity for all members of our community to show their support for the time and sacrifice that these men and women make for our country. I encourage everyone to stop by the fund raising area to meet our troops and wish them well on their mission”.

For those who are unable to attend the fundraiser, send checks payable to “American Legion Post 96” to the American Legion Post 96, 45 Raymond Road, West Hartford, CT  06107.
