Bishops Corner Library Holds Grand Re-Opening Celebration

After an extensive renovation, West Hartford's Bishops Corner Library reopened on Oct. 21.

Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of supporters, the Bishops Corner Branch Library, 15 Starkel Road, now boasts a completely renovated interior including an updated children's area and story room, new children's computer workstations with an AWE Early Literacy station, a new teen area, and new adult computer workstations.

The grand re-opening was celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 21, with library and town staff, elected officials, and many families eager to have the branch library back in business.

  •  Energy efficient heating, ventilating and air conditioning
  •  Windows with insulated non-glare glass and new interior doors
  •  Lighting with modern and energy efficient fixtures
  •  A centrally located circulation and information desk
  •  A cheerful new children’s section and story hour room
  •  New entry with internal book return slot
  •  Removal of rear entry (New shelving in this area)
  •  Relocation of electrical wires/cables
  •  New flooring made from partially recycled materials
  •  Point-of-use hot water heaters
