Aurora Women and Girls Foundation will hold its annual Signature Breakfast

Aurora Women and Girls Foundation will hold its annual Signature Breakfast, October 4, 2012 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford.


This year’s fundraiser, “Building A Legacy: Educating Women and Girls,” features guest speaker Jill Ker Conway, the first woman President of Smith College and best-selling author of The Road from Coorain and A Woman’s Education. Ms. Conway is also Chair of the Board of Directors for Community Solutions, a national organization whose mission is to strengthen communities and end homelessness.


Aurora will honor businesswoman and community leader, Eileen Kraus, as 2012 Woman Philanthropist of the Year. The 2012 Young Philanthropist is Vaeyanna Lettman, a student leader at the Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford.

The Aurora Women and Girls Foundation is a community-based endowment and grant making organization. Created in 2000, Aurora provides funding to nonprofit groups that offer programs serving women and girls in the Greater Hartford area. It is Connecticut’s only free-standing foundation focused exclusively on women and girls. Aurora acts as a convener for conversations and initiatives that support opportunities for women to learn about the power of philanthropy to effect change in their own lives, communities and the world in which they live.
