Get your Child’s Photo taken with our Bunnies Instead of giving one for an Easter gift (donations support Wildlife Sanctuary animals)

On Sunday, April 17 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., visitors to The Children’s Museum can have their photograph taken with our resident bunny rabbits, Spotty & Chico, for either a donation of $2 or a contribution of pet food for the animals in the Museum’s Wildlife Sanctuary, while supplies last. Weather permitting, the bunny pen will be set up in the courtyard, otherwise photos will be taken in the Turtle Town exhibit indoors.

“Since we always want to remind families that rabbits don’t make good Easter presents, we thought giving people a chance to get up close and personal with our rabbits might be a fun activity,” said Cindy King, director of the Wildlife Sanctuary. “We happily accept donations toward the care and feeding of our more than 100 animals, so we are hoping our visitors will agree and make it a fun family day.”  As rabbits are more challenging to care for than many people expect, they often end up abandoned. The Children’s Museum Wildlife Sanctuary staff discourages parents from giving live rabbits or baby chicks as gifts.

Types of pet food that can be accepted are dry rabbit food, dry chinchilla food, dry ferret food, canned dog food and dog treats.
