University of Hartford Will Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

The University of Hartford will host a vigil and march to honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including six U of H alums, on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. Members of the community are invited to attend.
The tribute will begin with a candlelight vigil on Alumni Plaza. Participants will then walk across the bridge to the academic side of campus and will gather around the six memorial trees, planted in honor of the six alums who died at the World Trade Center, between Dana Hall and the Harry Jack Gray Center.
During the ceremony, President Walter Harrison will make remarks; Student Government Association President Ben Accardo will read tributes to the six alumni as a ribbon is tied around each tree; and singer Aja Wilson '11 and the a cappella group L’Shir will perform. There will also be an open mic time for students to share their memories of 9/11.

BACKGROUND ― The University of Hartford lost six alums in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center: James J. Hobin (M’82), Robert L. Horohoe, Jr. (A ’91,’92), Richard M. Keane (M ’84), Stuart S. Louis (‘80), George P. McLaughlin, Jr. (’86) and Daniel R. Nolan (’83). All six attended the University's Barney School of Business.
