Flatbush Avenue Bridge to Open Friday

The newly constructed Flatbush Avenue bridge is scheduled to open Friday. The opening of the $23 million bridge comes 10 days early, according to the Department of Transportation.

An official ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and New Park Avenue, with West Hartford and DOT officials and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman.

In addition to carrying both vehicle and pedestrian traffic over the Amtrack rail line and the new CTfastrak busway, the construction project also included the realignment and reconstruction of the New Park Avenue/Flatbush Avenue and Newfield Avenue/Flatbush Avenue intersections.

Both pedestrian and vehicle traffic will move to the new bridge once it opens.
