Fox Chase Lane Getting Emergency Sewer Repairs

The Town of West Hartford has issued the following release informing residents about the need for emergency repairs and resulting traffic disruption which will occur.

As part of MDC’s proactive Sewer maintenance program the CCTV video inspection revealed three segments of the sanitary main with cracks and holes in the pipe (between 48 and 30 Fox Chase Lane).

Fox Chase Lane from Porter Drive to Cliffmore Road is scheduled to be milled and paved by the Town as a part of its 2012 paving program. Accordingly MDC deemed it necessary to perform an emergency repair with MDC’s emergency On-Call contractor LaRosa Construction, not only to ensure and maintain the integrity of its sewer service to its customers, but also ensure the final road restoration by the Town is not compromised in the future.

The attached PDF is a map of the proposed emergency repair work. The emergency sewer repair work involves the replacement of 430 ft of existing sewer main and house laterals with PVC pipe. The sanitary main is approximately 8 feet deep to the bottom of the sewer main pipe.

The contractor is scheduled to start work on Monday, March 5 weather permitting. The work should take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete, including seven workdays to replace seven sanitary house laterals. Work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MDC communications team will be notifying residents in the area this week utilizing the attached notice. The contractor will make adjustments to the work schedule for snow operation, if required, and the residences will be updated throughout the repair.
