Holiday Craft Festival and Marketplace Benefits Medical Aid to Haiti

The 5th annual Holiday Craft Festival and Marketplace to benefit Medical Aid
to Haiti (MATH) will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of St. Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford.

This unique marketplace provides a wonderful opportunity to get an early start on holiday shopping.

The event presents 50 fine artisans of handcrafted goods including pottery, metalwork, woodwork, jewelry, paper art, folk art, photography, painting, wreaths, dried flowers, soaps, and candles.

Fiber arts include hand knits, weaving, felted wool, alpaca, quilting, tie-dye, handbags, and accessories.

Local farm and gourmet food purveyors offer jams, jellies, hot sauce, honey, cookies, candy, nuts and more.

Performances by acoustic guitarists and local youth musicians enliven each day. Extras include a wine tasting, professional chair-massage, café and bake sale, and a teacup auction of handcrafted goods donated by each artisan.

The vendor fees and additional proceeds raised at the craft festival go directly to fund the mobile medical clinic that Medical Aid to Haiti (MATH) runs in towns around the Port au Prince area where medical care is hard to find. MATH fulfills their mission of "helping Haitians heal Haitians..." by having the mobile medical clinic organized, operated, and staffed by qualified Haitians.

The craft fair and marketplace is open to the public. Parking and admission are free.
