The West Hartford-based group “Unite For Light,” which spearheaded the effort to install lights at McKee and Chalmers Stadiums, is making a final push to raise the final portion of the funds necessary to complete the project.

Bob Macca, co-president of Unite For Light, said in an interview last week that the group needed to raise about $110,000.

Toward that end, the group is sponsoring a Tailgate Celebration and Fundraiser - billed as the town’s biggest-ever tailgate party - to support the stadium lights at Hall and Conard.

The tailgate party will include upscale tailgate food, beer, wine, silent and live auctions, with guest MC Colin Cowherd of ESPN, DJ and dancing. The date of the tailgate party is Oct. 5, 2013, from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall.

Tickets are $45/person and can be purchased at UniteforLight.com or email to UniteforLight@gmail.com.

The event will be held indoors rain or shine. Wear your preferred favorite tailgate attire.

Anyone wishing to sponsor the event or donate something to the live auction may do so by contacting Ronit Shoham at shokids@hotmail.com.
