Newfield Avenue Will Be Closed Due to CTfastrak Construction

Construction set to begin on that road in West Hartford on Aug. 2, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The following is a press release from the Town of West Hartford:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation reports the following construction activities for the CTfastrak. Here's what to expect:

HARTFORD & WEST HARTFORD:

Stage 2 of the Flatbush Avenue reconstruction project will begin on Friday evening, Aug. 2, 2013. 

Newfield Avenue will be closed between Charter Oak Marketplace Drive and Flatbush Avenue. Newfield Avenue traffic will be detoured onto Charter Oak Marketplace Drive. See Map

The closure is required for the construction of the Flatbush Avenue Bridge over CTfastrak and Amtrak Railroad. The new Flatbush Avenue Bridge is scheduled to be opened to traffic by Thanksgiving 2013.

Traffic Control Information:  

  • Signs will be posted to help guide you.
  • All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.
