The Bridge to Host Parenting Workshop Series

Series, to take place in West Hartford, deals with the subject of living with 10-15 year olds.

The following is a press release:

Join an informative and energizing four-session workshop series designed to provide new information and a better understanding of your changing young adolescent. Through education, discussion and shared practical information, you can enhance and develop successful problem-solving skills as you maintain a positive parent/child relationship.  

The first three sessions are for parents in a classroom setting. The fourth session brings parents and children together in a group activity with challenging tasks and games to enhance mutual cooperation, communication, trust and respect.

The classes, with facilitator Colleen Murphy Hilliard, licensed marriage and family therapist, are Wednesday at Sedgwick Middle School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and are as follows:

1.  Jan. 22: Understanding early adolescent behavior

2.  Jan. 29: Communicating with your young adolescent

3.  Feb. 5: Risk-taking behavior

4.  Feb. 12: Parents and Children Family Activity Session

The first three sessions will be in Room 213 and the fourth class in the cafeteria.

The fee for the program is $75 per family
