VIDEO: Pooches Take the Plunge into Kennedy Pool

It's truly the "dog days of summer" as West Hartford pool closes to humans but hosts a special event for canine residents.

It's a special day for the canine residents of West Hartford when the pools close for the summer. This is the fourth anniversary of the West Hartford Dog Park Coalition's "Pooch Plunge," held this year at on the day after the pools closed to human residents.

On a sunny afternoon, properly licensed dogs of all shapes and sizes were given the opportunity to take the "plunge" into the Kennedy pool.

The event, which costs $5 per dog, was a fundraiser for the Dog Park Coalition which is currenty raising funds for construction of a dog park in West Hartford. The property currently under consideration is a plot of vacant land between Memorial Drive and Farmington Ave., near Whole Foods Market.
