Viewfinder: The Ghosts, Goblins, and Ghouls of West Hartford

When autumn arrives, some place a flower pot of mums on the front doorstep. Others may welcome the season by carving a jack-o-lantern, or hanging a fall flag in the garden.

Many people also decorate their homes for Halloween, adding a ghost or witch here and there, some light-up skeletons, a scary pumpkin.

Then, there are the Halloween houses.

Some residents go all out in advance of the night of October 31, when crowds of young and not-so-young costumed characters go door-to-door uttering the words, "Trick or treat!"

There is one house on in West Hartford with a Halloween display so extensive that it warranted its own story.
