West Hartford History: Where Was This?

Last week's question was very specific: "When Did the Horse Car Service Begin?" Maybe it was way too specific, because only one person dared to guess.

"I think it began in 1888 on Farmington Avenue, as pictured in the photograph," commented Jeff Murray.

Jeff, you are so ... close to the answer provided by the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society that we would have to vote that answer as correct. They said: "The first horse car in West Hartford began service on Sept. 29, 1889. At first the horse cars made hourly trips between Hartford and West Hartford but eventually more frequent trips were added. The fare each way was ten cents."
