West Hartford National Guard Unit Due to Return From Afghanistan

About 120 soldiers with the Connecticut National Guard 143rd Military Police Company of West Hartford are due back to Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby this afternoon, after deploying to Afghanistan in July of 2012.

The soldiers worked with Afghan Uniformed Police, providing support and performing security and intelligence operations, according to a West Hartford News article about the unit’s departure.

The unit, led by Capt. James Locke of Manchester, previously deployed to Iraq from 2003 to 2004, according to the Associated Press.

The West Hartford American Legion and VFW supported and sent care packages to the unit during its deployment.
