West Hartford Senior Center Collecting Used Cellphones

Other unwanted electronics, including hand held game systems, digital cameras, and mp3 players are also accepted.

Most people replace their cellphones every two years when contracts permit upgrades – or even more frequently as updated models with "must have" features become available.

Unfortunately, many of the old phones sit unused in a drawer, or worse – end up in a landfill.

The West Hartford Senior Center is asking for donations of those outdated or unwanted phones, even if they are broken, for a fundraiser made available through the National Council on Aging. They will be turning over the phones, as well as unwanted hand held game systems, digital cameras, and mp3 players, to Cellular Recycler – a company that either prepares the devices for reuse or recycles them responsibly.
