West Hartford Man Shares Ancestor's Civil War Story

Quincy Abbot has published a collection of his ancestor's correspondence, which he rescued years ago from a flooded basement, the Hartford Courant reports.

West Hartford resident Quincy Abbot is sharing a family tale while bringing history to life. 

The former Cigna employee has published the Civil War-era correspondence of his ancestor Edward Stanley Abbot, who died of wounds sustained in battle in 1863, the Hartford Courant reports.

Abbot found the letters after pulling an old desk out of his parents' flooded basement decades ago.
