12 Foot tall, 800 lb Robot Comes to The Children's Museum

Got 'bot? Come see The Aexeous Robot, an 800 lb, 12 foot tall interactive robot that will visit The Children's Museum on Robot Sunday, December 19th, as part of the Family Science Sunday series sponsored by The Hartford Financial Services Group. Joining Axeous will be the Elm City Robo Squad from Hill Regional Career High School in New Haven. The Elm City Robo Squad will bring the robot they built for the 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition, showing kids of all ages how things like gears and pneumatics make robots work.

Hands-on activities include building electrical circuits, manipulating mini-robots and navigating a remote controlled rover obstacle course. Robo Sunday activities are free with general admission and will run from 11:00 AM to closing time at 4:00 PM. The Children's Museum is located at 950 Trout Brook Drive, West Hartford.

Family Science Sundays at The Children's Museum is sponsored by The Hartford Financial Services Group. FSS days include special guest presenters, science demonstrations, hands-on experiments, creative take-home materials, fun activities and an on-line component. The series is supported by a $50,000 grant awarded to The Children's Museum by The Hartford as part of its Bicentennial celebration. Each program draws from the Museum's rich expertise in the sciences and education.
