Free Film Screening of Women, War and Peace: War Redefined

A free screening and panel discussion of War Redefined will be held on May 8th at YWCA Hartford Region located at 135 Broad Street in Hartford. This is the fifth film in the PBS Women, War and Peace series that challenges the conventional wisdom that war and peace is the domain of men.

War Redefined is the engaging capstone of the Women, War & Peace series. War Redefined reframes our understanding of modern warfare through probing conversations with leading thinkers, Secretaries of State and seasoned survivors of war and peace-makers. Their personal experiences reveal how the post-Cold War proliferation of small arms has changed the landscape of war, with women becoming primary targets and suffering unprecedented casualty rates. Simultaneously, they describe how women are emerging as necessary partners in brokering lasting peace and as leaders in forging new international laws governing conflict.

The screening, followed by a discussion of the film, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Megan Clark Torrey will lead the panel discussion. Megan Clark Torrey is Program Director of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut. To RSVP to the event e-mail LeahF@ywcahartford.org or call (860) 525-1163 Ext. 245.
