Mandell JCC Lights-Up and Rocks Out at Chanukah Family Extravaganza Featuring the Mama Doni Band, Saturday, December 17, 2011

The Mandell JCC gears up for Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, with the famed Mama Doni Band on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Chanukah Family Extravaganza, at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Holiday snacks start at 5:45 p.m., the concert begins at 6:30 p.m. The event also includes fun free give-aways, and each attending family will receive a free copy of the band’s Shabbat Shaboom album.

With her “zany musical chicken soup of reggae, rock, disco, Latin and Klezmer,” Mama Doni and her band will perform family favorites such as “La Vida Dreidel,” “The Funky Gold Menorah,” and more, all of which will have the audience dancing in their seats. Doni Zasloff Thomas (Mama Doni) is a mother, teacher, performer and songwriter. Her band is the winning recipient of the 2008 Simcha Award for “Inspiring Joy Through Music.” Additional band members include Eric Lindberg – guitar; Alexander Tyshkov – bass; and Cliff Ramsay – drums.

The Chanukah Family Extravaganza is sponsored by Mandell JCC Partner, The Crown Market, who will provide traditional jelly doughnuts for all attendees. Tickets for the concert are $5 per person for the public, and free for all Mandell JCC members. Reserved tickets are required.
