Noted Illustrators to Speak in Hartford Art School’s Auerbach Lecture Series

Artists Nancy Stahl and Zina Saunders, whose works have appeared in such publications as The Wall Street Journal and Time and The New Republic, will present a joint lecture entitled, “Digital Dames.” Their talk, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, April 4, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium of the Harry Jack Gray Center, at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.

This program is part of the Hartford Art School’s Auerbach Lecture Series, and is made possible by The Beatrice Fox Auerbach Foundation Fund.

Nancy Stahl’s illustrations have been used in projects ranging from editorial to packaging, postage stamps, corporate identity, and television commercials.  Recent editorial clients include Time magazine, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.  Her work has appeared on book covers, in animations, posters, billboards, and publications of all kinds, from as far away as Germany and Japan.

In addition, Stahl has created 17 stamps for the U.S. Postal Service, some of which have been among the most used in Post Office history.

Zina Saunders has been a writer/illustrator for more than 20 years.  Her work can be seen in such national magazines and newspapers as The New Republic, The Progressive, The Nation, The Wall Street Journal, The Utne Reader, and Discover magazine.

In addition to editorial illustrations in print publications, Mother Jones and The Real News feature her editorial animations every week, seven of which were in part of the Grinnell College Animation Film Festival.
