Pet Adoption Day: Fun “Fur” the Whole Family!

This day belongs to dogs and cats!

Whether you’re looking to adopt a pet or not, bring your canine and human family out for a fun-filled day to help three local animal shelters. The event will be held on Saturday, July 16, at The Shops at Avon Green (38 West Main Street, Avon, CT) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — rain or shine.

Besides the pet adoption clinic (where you get a bag of pet food with every adoption), visitors can enjoy free demos, a bouncy house, entertainment by a clown and DJ, a kid’s Karaoke contest, and much more! There will be food for sale by First and Last Tavern and ice cream by the Canton Creamery. Children are encouraged to enter their dog in the Shops at Avon Green Dog Show, where awards will be given. And, of course, there are fantastic sidewalk sales!

“This is a wonderful opportunity to adopt a pet, support shelters and enjoy the day with your two-legged and four-legged family,” explained Lynn Mogielnicki, owner of Over the Moon children’s clothing store.

A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated to Animal Friends of Connecticut, Boot ‘n Kit Canine Rescue and R.T Rescue.
