Regional Premiere of "The Scarlet Letter" at Playhouse on Park

Playhouse on Park is proud to present the Regional premiere of Stuart Vaughan’s new adaptation of The Scarlet Letter.  This is a vivid and moving interpretation of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s renowned tale of adultery, guilt and revenge in colonial Massachusetts.  The Scarlet Letter deals with the universal question of sexual repression and inner turmoil.   Directed by Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Stuart Vaughan (Founder, New York Shakespeare Festival); this fresh new production brings to the stage a nobility and musicality reminiscent of Shakespeare.

The Scarlet Letter features the talents of three original cast members from the NYC Premiere production of The Scarlet Letter (New Globe Theatre):  William Shust* (Broadway Credits include: Arturo Ui, The Owl and The Pussycat, and The Country Girl), Jana Mestecky* (New York theatre credits include: The Servant of Two Masters at Theatre Three, The Angel Project, Lincoln Center Festival, Fool for Love, Bleecker Street Theatre, When A Storm Comes, Epic Repertory Theatre Company, DR2), and Craig Rising* (New York theatre credits include: I Knock at the Door and Pictures in the Hallway (New Globe Theatre), LUCK!
