Space Sunday Flies In to The Children's Museum

Let your imagination soar into space and beyond with out-of-this-world activities and demonstrations on Space Sunday at The Children’s Museum, Sunday, February 20, from 11:00am-4:00pm.  Space Sunday is part of the Family Science Sundays series sponsored by The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. Activities include:

  • Make and launch your own model rocket
  • See what happens in the vacuum of space
  • Learn how to find and draw the constellations
  • Meet an astronaut in training in the Teachers in Space Program
  • Weather permitting, check out our solar observation telescope

Special guest Rachel Manzer, the STEM Magnet Theme Coach at Hartford’s Annie Fisher School, is one of seven teachers chosen nationally for the Teachers in Space program. Ms. Manzer was chosen for the Teacher in Space (http://teachersinspace.org) program in 2009.

The program pairs and trains teachers with commercial spaceflight companies with the goal of combining space travel with classroom teaching opportunities in the next several years.
